Publisher's Synopsis
Throughout the British Isles it is widely believed that certain plants can cause misfortune if they are picked or taken indoors. As the result of a survey conducted by members of the Folklore Society in 1982-1984 a list of over 70 such plants was compiled. This volume gives a summary of the information received, together with a number of historical and other comments. Thus it provides a vivid commentary on an important aspect of folk belief.
