1917. When dancer Viktoriya Budian flees war-torn Russia, she arrives in Paris. Her only chance of survival is to join the Ballets Russes, a controversial dance company that works with Picasso, Chanel, and Matisse. As war rages across Europe, Viktoriya's personal life is in turmoil as lies lead to betrayal and her freedom is threatened. Present day. Lily Johansson returns to Paris, the city that broke her heart and destroyed her ballet career, hoping to ease the guilt over her fiancé's death and to make amends with her estranged sister, Natalie, also a dancer. Lily finds herself entangled with talented composer Yves Rousseau, who believes she is his muse. Meanwhile, Natalie develops an unhealthy obsession with the story of Viktoriya Budian. As Natalie's behaviour becomes increasingly erratic, Lily fears for her sister's safety and sanity.
