Publisher's Synopsis
- "Under the Axe" is a terrible episode of Vendean cabbage. There is no shortage of interest, and the style is a scholarly colour, sometimes a blood colour, like the time he tells. There is in these pages a wild power that makes you shudder, admirable landscapes painted with a knife, you could say to the cleaver. I particularly remembered a fight that cabbages and blues engage in in a village church, and which recalls, by fever and movement, the famous fight of the cockroaches of the "Knight Of Touches".
