This map presents detail extending from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania in the west, Belorussia to the north, the Russian Federation to the east and the Black Sea to the south.;Geography of the area is shown by the layer colouring and coverage of other natural features. Rivers, lakes, canals and summit heights all combine to provide a useful background to the road detail and comprehensive selection of cities, towns and villages. Both the road detail and settlements are divided into logical classes of importance and size. Distances between towns are given in kilometres and road numbers are included.;The main mapping is at a scale of 1:1,200,000 (approximately 19 miles to 1 inch). Other maps have been included for extra information - a large-scale map of the Crimean Riviera at 1:500,000 (approximately 8 miles to 1 inch), a city-centre plan of Kiev, and a detailed location map of Eastern Europe to show the position of the Ukraine and Moldova and its relationship with its neighbours at 1:15,000,000 (approximately 237 miles to 1 inch). There is a detailed multi-language "Key to symbols" on the map side, and a complete index to place-names on the reverse.
