Publisher's Synopsis
By nature, man does not like to venture in unknown territories. He prefers a safe environment. Wants to live around people who are known, friendly, and love him. But there are some who are forced to venture out! Circumstances and certain events force them to come out of their shells and face an unknown world. Once out of their homes, they don't have much choices, but to endure what comes in their way. Their condition is like a piece of wood floating in a gushing stream. Circumstances dictate their course of actions. This book is about them.In today's political environment, the emotional side of the issue of immigration is forgotten by many. People don't realize that they are talking about alive, breathing people who are suffering, going through hardships and who are not just numbers. This book will give the reader an opportunity to put his/her foot into the shoes of a dreamer or an undocumented immigrant. What would have the reader done when faced with such similar circumstances? Will he/she had taken a different course of action or would have just done the same? The debate about immigration and the invasion of our country by undocumented or illegals is mostly done in the light of an issue which our country faces, mostly highlighted as a political talking point during the elections which inflicts a social and political stigma on the immigrants. Though living right under their noses, many Americans don't know what an undocumented immigrant in today's America goes through? How does their day-to-day life look like? Why they are forced to come to the USA? Mostly seen as someone who takes away their jobs, gets free benefits without paying taxes, crosses the border illegally, makes babies in the USA, and don't follow rules. The emotional side of the story of an immigrant is totally ignored! It gets lost in the rhetoric of today's political environment. The authors have tried to put faces behind this rhetoric to help people see the emotional side of what an undocumented immigrant or dreamer goes through. The stories told in this book are true. Only the names have been changed for privacy reasons. These are stories of live breathing people who are living alongside us and are trying best to create an environment which is fruitful and productive for themselves, their children and their community. The authors urge educators, policy makers, immigration lawyers, representatives of the State and Federal Governments, politicians, media persons, employers, religious entities, philanthropists, advocacy groups and citizens in general to do everything in their power to highlight the issues faced by the undocumented people, the dreamers and the TPS visa holders and help in any way and every way they can.May God bless us and the United States of America!Marz-Tahera-Juan
