Publisher's Synopsis
Written by highly experienced teachers, writers and OFSTED inspectors, this course aims to continue good practice in schools, whilst addressing the important issues of concern to modern language teachers: how to encourage student autonomy and use of the target language; how significantly to reduce high photocopying costs; how to deliver accurate and effective assessment; and how to ensure progression.;The series encourages students to use the target language communicatively and active use of the language is fully developed and continually reinforced. It ensures progression throughout Key Stage 3 and provides an active approach to grammar to help students analyze the language they are learning. Students are offered regular opportunities to be creative, to read for pleasure and to develop dictionary skills. In-built revision and self-assessment inform learning and make students aware of their progress. Additionally, an activity book provides personalized ownership of work and there is a certificate of achievement for each student, designed to motivate learning. The series reflects the reduced content of the post-Dearing National Curriculum and is suitable for S1-2 in Scotland.;The teacher's books offer a fully comprehensive guide to using all the elements of the course and include everything needed for comprehensive assessment; they also give clear guidance on monitoring effectively the progress of each student. The books contain practical suggestions for ways to present, reinforce and extend new language, include clearly flagged IT suggestions at regular intervals and give answers to all activity book and student's book activities. Additionally, they include tasks which are clearly linked to the relevant National Curriculum levels and contain photocopiable "bilans" at the end of each unit to provide self-assessment opportunities for students. Copymasters aid with presentation for new language and/or for use as worksheets and transcripts for all audio material are clearly featured in bold.
