Excerpt from U. S. Foreign Agricultural Trade by Countries, Calendar Year 1962: A Supplement to the Monthly Foreign Agricultural Trade of the United States
The im ort value, defined generally as the market value in the foreign country, excludes import duties, ocean freight, and marine insurance. The country of origin is defined as the country where the commodities were grown or processed. Where the country of origin is not known, the imports are credited to the country of shipment.
Imports similar to agricultural commodities produced commercially in the United States and other that are interchangeable in use to any significant extent with such u.s. Commodities are supple mentar or partly competitive. All other commodities are com lamentar or noncompetitive.
