Exports Drop Exports decreased $150 million from June to billion, but were slightly higher than July 1993. Live animal exports were head greater than last June and value was 58 percent higher than July 1993 due to cattle shipments to Canada. Poultry meat exports fell 15 percent, but year-to-date exports of billion were up 38 percent. Hong Kong has imported tons this year, much of which is transshipped to China and other Asian countries.
Fruit shipments declined but year - to-date value remained strong at billion. Fruit juice exports gained 7 percent. Nut exports continued to outpace last year with october-july shipments of billion despite lower volume. Vegetable export value declined, but was 7 percent ahead of July 1993. Year-to-date fresh vegetable shipments fell 5 percent in value, while frozen vegetables gained 15 percent. Export unit values for fresh vegetables declined but rose for frozen vegetables. Mexico and Japan have increased imports of frozen vegetables.
