In 1314, Sir Brychan, a Templar Knight, while on a suicide mission, kept a diary revealing secrets of the Order. It was stolen. Over the next 700 years whenever it appeared, there followed a series of murders and the legend of its curse was born. Now the diary has reappeared in Santa Barbara; there are two murders and it is stolen again. Detective Kate Flynn and Brother Thomas, a monk and translator, discover that by following clues in the diary they may solve the murders. While pursued by powerful cartels determined to kill and recover it, the chase leads them to Europe as they follow the Templar's trail. There is also a complication; Kate, the cynical cop and Thomas, the devout monk are desperately caught up in a forbidden love. While following scenes from the diary, Kate and Thomas slowly realize it is miraculously dictating what they do. They must solve its secrets while trapped in a web of murder and intrigue by dark forces of almost unlimited power and a chilling Templar prophecy of events that are happening now.
