Publisher's Synopsis

The first season (including pilot) of David Lynch's landmark murder mystery television series 'Twin Peaks'. Twin Peaks (population 51,201) lies just 5 miles from the Canadian border, a sleepy everytown USA where everyone's lives intersect with everyone else's. The town wakes up one morning to find one of its brightest young inhabitants, beautiful Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) murdered and wrapped in plastic down by the river. Local police Harry S. Truman (Michael Ontkean) and tearful Deputy Andy are out of their depth with such a murder case and a FBI agent is assigned to the case. Youthful, charismatic and somewhat otherworldy in his approach to policing, Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) arrives to try to solve the case. Cooper's appearance causes ripples in the small town and in turn he discovers that Twin Peaks is a small town full of secrets. Aided by the ever-stoic Harry, Agent Cooper starts to uncover Laura's double-life, high-achieving student and dutiful daughter by day, but morally corrupt partygirl by night. It seems that no-one is entirely innocent in their relationship to the dead-girl. Cooper regularly files reports via dictaphone cassette to 'Diane' at FBI regional headquarters, but is he getting any closer to the killer, and will his department allow him to stay on the case with the 'evidence' pointing to a supernatural killer?
