Publisher's Synopsis
Twilight of the Meddlers is a comical libertarian fantasy. The Four Horsemen, longtime friends in their early 30s, respond to the 2008 election by engaging in a series of identity theft scams. Horseman Peter Trevaskis sees no point in carrying on as a law-abiding chump when everyone else is on the take or freeloading off the taxpayers. The Horsemen travel about from scam to scam and meet trouble from myriad sources: Facebook friends, a Target shopper, Dostoyevsky passages, Steve Miller song lyrics, Vermont Teddy Bears, a political science professor, all-natural male enhancement pills, jealous husbands, patriotic neighbors, a mysterious stew, a Ukrainian spy, a bust of Elvis, and even one or two pricks of conscience. Careening through the first hundred days of the Obama presidency, the Horsemen leave baffled women, puzzled professors, nonplussed classmates, and stuffed commodes in their wake.
