Publisher's Synopsis
Upon being dropped into Salerno, Italy on September 14, 1943, Private First Class Earnest Deal and the rest Of F Company, 505th Parachute Infantry, 82d Airborne Division, are ambushed by German artillery. The ambush is only the introduction to the strange set of circumstances FOX Company who must learn to servive. It starts with Deal dreaming he is being transported through the night sky by a woman clad in armor and riding upon a giant flying horse. Deal soon learns she is a valkyrie and his new billets are in a place called Vahalla. Fox Company finds themselves in struggles they were never trained to fight in. They learn of new names such as Cannae, Rourk'e Drift and of a River called the Hydaspes. Strangest of all Deal finds himself in love.
