Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Twenty-Five Years of Organized Boys Work in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, 1891-1915

You can measure a rose but not its perfume, you can measure a stove but not its heat, you can measure a man but not his personality or in?uence. In like manner you can tabulate the statistics but you cannot measure the in?uence of the Association, its work and its workers upon the lives of boys and men. No printed page will ever reveal the motive power for righteousness set in motion, the lives saved from the ravages of sin and the forces set free for service in the church, the school, the community and the nation by the Young Men's Christian Association Boys' Division of the two States. This is something which the eternal record alone will reveal.

This book is therefore sent forth with a profound prayer of thanksgiving for the past and with the earnest desire that the past may stimulate to greater efforts in bringing boys to Jesus Christ and enlisting them in His service.
