Publisher's Synopsis

After losing her husband, fiction writer Lucile Horsley Blanchard took poetry classes to express her feelings of loss. She met her husband as an undergrad at Radcliffe College after he had served in World War II. They got married and settled in Connecticut where Alfred taught art in the public schools and Lucile became a stay-at-home mom for their four children. "Turning Seventy" started as a writing exercise, but gathered steam to become an exploration of loss after Lucile's husband took his life. It is also a meditation on aging. As baby boomers move through their older years, they will find unexpected wisdom in this book.
