Publisher's Synopsis
Adversity. Every living person faces it. Its part of the human condition. Im Christopher Wiehl, an actor and filmmaker, and Ive had plenty of challenges of my own. Some people may not think thats the case, but I bet theyve never had brain fluid leaking from their nose. Id been living what some would have considered a charmed life when, in 2008, doctors discovered a brain tumor next to the auditory nerve in my right ear. It nearly killed me, but Im still here. And through it all, one lesson Ive learned is that the adversity people face is not as important as their response to it. Itshowthey overcome the obstacleshow they learn to walk like a man, as Bruce Springsteen would saythat keeps them moving forward. InTrying to Walk Like a Man,well talk about how Im trying to survive in the cutthroat entertainment industryand while youre here, well discuss our own lives. Well talk about some of the adversity we all face, and well see if we can figure out what keeps us putting one foot in front of the other. Pull up a chair, wont you?
