Publisher's Synopsis
Even though ergonomics as a discipline has been in existence for over a century, it has been applied extensively only in the past few decades. As a result, productivity has increased, injuries have decreased, and jobs and workplaces have become more acceptable. This volume contains 133 papers in this context by international researchers and practitioners. They discuss a wide range of subjects from basic research to industrial applications and present results of value to scientists, educators and practitioners of ergonomics/human factors and safety. Providing a comprehensive review of the current issues in ergonomic workplace design, the papers address human aspects of work automation in industry and office environments and offer research guides to ergonomics activities in different countries.
