Matia Brizman, Ph.D., L.Ac. Doctor of philosophy in classical Chinese medicine Board certified in Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture. Matia Brizman is a doctor of classical Chinese medicine practicing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in Los Angeles, California who treats patients both in the Greater Los Angeles area, as well as in various parts of the United States and abroad. Her work is an original system developed through her years of experience of her own integrative approach between classical Chinese and Western medicines. Since the beginning of her practice in 1996, she has touched the lives of many people, mostly women, but she also treats men and is now gaining much experience with children born to those having had chronic illness, as it is common for those children to experience various health challenges. Matia is endeavoring to form a bridge of understanding and communication between Western and Eastern medical disciplines to make room for more discussion of a truly integrative approach that includes a higher degree of empathy, and treatment that is dynamic an individualized. Dr. Brizman's understanding of this condition has already surpassed the work reflected in her dissertation, however, this book should serve as a good foundation for learning about the condition and her perspective regarding IC, related chronic conditions, and the dynamics of health and illness.
