Excerpt from Tratado Entre Su Magestad La Reina De Espa�a Y Su Magestad El Rey Del Reino Unido De La Gran Breta�a E Irlanda: Para La Abolicion Del Trafico De Esclavos, Concluido Y Firmado En Madrid En 28 De Junio De 1835
Isabella the second, Queen of Spain, being desirous of rendering the means taken for abolishing the inhuman traficlc in slaves more ejec tive, have, in order to obtain this important object, resolved to conclu de a new Convention, in the spirit of the Treaty contracted between both Powers on the 23 of Septem ber 1817, naming respectively for this as their Plenipotentiaries to wit: his Britannic Majest George Vi lliers, Esquire, his gnvoy extraors dinary and Minister Plenipotentia ry at the Court of Madrid; and Her Majesty the Queen Regent of Spain, Don Francisco de Paula Martinez de la Rosa, �night Grand Cross of the Royal and distinguished Spa nish order of Charles the Third, of that of Christ of Portugal, and of that of Leopold of Belgium, who having duly communicated to each other their respective full powers, and found them in proper form, ha veagreed upon and concluded the fo llowing articles.
