Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Transactions of the Bristol Gloucestershire Archaeological Society, Vol. 8: For 1883-84

Royce' s monograph on the Place, in the volume of Transactions for the year.

The Rev. A. Williams, late Rector of Icomb, read a paper on the History of the Parish Church. From Icomb the members proceeded to Bledington Church, where Mr. Cutts again acted as guide; and, from thence to the Elizabethan mansion, formerly the home of the Catesby family, at Chastleton. Here, by the kind permission of the present owner, Miss Whitmore Jones, the members lunched. Chastleton Church and Camp having been visited, the party returned to Stow, visiting Oddington Church, which is forsaken and fast becoming a ruin, on their homeward journey.
