Ces sels se distinguent par leur couleur rouge ou brun rouge� tre. Ceux qui sont solubles ont une saveur astringente, peu m� tallique; les sulfhydrates alcaline. Les pr�cipitent en noir, les al calis caustiques en bleu ou en vert, le cyanure ferroso-potassique en vert gris�tre, et les carbonates alcalins en rouge clair. Le cobalt n'est pas pr�cipit� de ses diss�lutions par le zinc.
