This video follows the progress of Mickey, a three-year-old Clydesdale, as he is trained to join the team that pulls the famous "Bandirran" show dray. We are shown Mickey, owned and trained by Tom and Cate Brewster, long reining, pulling the sledge and put on the pole for the first time in a pair.;The video is shot on location in the beautiful countryside of Dumfries and Galloway, with spectacular footage of Scotland's heavy horse being ridden along the Solway Firth. Also shown are some interesting sequence sof timber being hauled by a Clydesdale, from a Scottish forest.;When Mickey is deemed ready to join the team, we are shown the tension behind the scenes as the horses are prepared for a show. Plaited, groomed and harnessed and wearing the traditional Scottish peaked collar, Mickey is ready for his debut in competition at the 1995 Royal Show.;Tom and Cate Brewster are internationally-known as breeders of the "Bandirran" Clydesdales. Tom Brewster is past president of the Clydesdale Society and he has won the Championship for the pairs heavy horse turnout at the Royal Show in 1992, 1993, and 1994.;This video is narrated by the Scottish writer and broadcaster, Jimme McGregor.
