A collection of traditional cross-stitch motifs, bands and borders from many parts of Europe. The book includes examples of embroidery that date back to the Middle Ages, based on patterns printed in Germany in the 19th century. These motifs, bands and borders can be used to decorate household linens, blouses and classic knitwear, or they can be elements in the design of samplers and canvaswork (needlepoint). It also consists of over 250 patterns in chart form with explanatory stitch diagrams.
