Publisher's Synopsis
Shortly after the American Civil War, a small town in the Deep South struggles to come to terms with the new order. Ex-slaves are now respected doctors, lawyers and powerbrokers - and the whites don't like it one bit. A sinister group of white supremacists see the opportunity to fan the flames of race hate when a black man is accused of the murder of a white woman, but the black residents, proud and determined, strike back.
