Publisher's Synopsis
From the 'Little Famine' in Ireland during 1879 to the summer of 2019 in Georgetown, Maine, Tír na nÓg traces the fortunes of four generations of Buckley men and their families. The stories of Jamie, Will, Jack, and Michael Buckley and the challenges they face to create 'homes' for themselves and their families are told against the backdrop of one summer, the summer of 2019.
Michael Buckley is now a widower. His granddaughter, Wendy, comes to Tír na nÓg for the summer so she can work on an overdue college history paper on the place she thinks of as home. Wendy's presence and her work stir Michael to resurrect the story of a devastating paper strike in Jay, Maine, that he had covered when he was a reporter for a local newspaper. Wendy's presence and his return to writing may be the resurrection of Michael, himself.
