This is the narrative of the author's secret journey to Lhasa in the years 1922-23. The route that the author took was via Sikkim, starting at Darjeeling. Passing through Gyantse and Shigatse he entered Lhasa undetected. The book, like all travel and descriptive book, does not miss to recount of relate all that the author passed through or experienced. The topography, the people, their habits and customs, the observations on the camp men, sundry officials are described in an amusing manner. The book has 13 photographs. The author was a lecturer in Chinese and Japanese at the School of Oriented Studies in London at the time of writing this book. This book is a reprint of the 1924 edition.
