Four separate stories are woven together into an exciting time travel story where children from the 21st century are persuaded by a mysterious organisation from the future (SHARP) to travel back in time to help save the world from the impending Dark Chaos. This is the theme of the twelve books that went before. The four stories all celebrate Manchester's history and feature persons who were involved in founding the Portico library at the end of the Georgian period. The library can still be found on Mosley Street in the centre of Manchester.
