In 1914 Sam is too young to join the army. His brother Gill has not enlisted which causes ill-feeling within the community. As Sam and Gill carry ammunition over the Channel to Calais, Sam discovers that there is more than one way of going to war. The author also wrote "Fly by Night" and "Team".
