Publisher's Synopsis
Through the Carer's Eyes is an anthology of real experiences by the author during his time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. As the pages unfold, the reader will live through miracles and tragedies, elation and terror. One thing is true: there's no place like the NICU - where miracles happen every day! With foreword by Elena Bosque, Ph.D., ARNP, NNP-BC. About the author: Nathan Schooley is a young and passionate family man living in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and children. He found his passion for neonatal nursing from a young age, graduating from nursing school and entering his first nursing job in the NICU at the age of 22. He went on to continue his education and graduated with his Master's Degree as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) at the age of 25, beginning work as an NNP at age 26. Nathan also had a passion for creative writing throughout his life and began to chronicle his most memorable experiences in this work. While patient identifiers have been changed to protect those involved, the experiences are real. This work was written at the beginning of his career as an NNP, chronicling those early years as a student, Registered Nurse (RN), and then new graduate Nurse Practitioner. He hopes this work is helpful to medical professionals and the general public.
