Oh, well! Maybe when over there. Where enemy submarines swarm, I'll do my part as well as those Who have some folks at home. Home? Ah, God! That wondrous place Which mother made for me! Henceforth 'tis where I hang my hat When the Fleet puts out to sea!
The great ships carry ponderous guns And thousands of tons of coal.
But the heaviest thing by far on board Is a lonely sailor's Soul!
And when we're back, the boys will rush Into yearning arms they'll see.
But I'll take a nap; nobody cares When I come back from sea!
