Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Thought and Things, Vol. 3: A Study of the Development and Meaning of Thought or Genetic Logic; Interest and Art, Being Real Logic, I. Genetic Epistemology

It will be noted that in Parts III and IV respectively, I have drawn directly upon certain contemporary writers. The theory 0 affective logic, accepted in principle and extended in application in these pages, is distinctively French in its Origin, as the theory of Einfiihlung, also accepted and utilized in its fundamental meaning, is distinctively German. The names of Ribot and Lipps will always be connected respectively with these two fruitful movements in psychological and aesthetic theory. Whatever constructions are made, in attempts like this, to appraise and extend these principles, these writers will always be cited as the original thinkers whose researches have made them possible.
