Publisher's Synopsis
There are many wonderful aspects about the horse business but there are also many negatives in the industry such as inbreeding, over-breeding, oversupply, operations on young foals which are not required to be divulged, bribing at auctions and most importantly, the complete lack of uniformity on numerous issues. Specifically, the permissive medication policies that vary from state to state and the catastrophic results that this medication is wreaking upon the industry. A carefully crafted charter, or other vehicle, for a federal racing association (representing horse owners) is urgently needed to ensure better treatment for horses and enhance the revenues for both the tracks and the horse and improve the integrity and safety of the sport. This book looks at the future and integrity of the Thoroughbred Industry.
