This is the story of Mikael Lidron, the human son of a knight who secretly longs for adventure. When Mikael travels on a journey with the half elf mage Firanda, he hopes to find both a touch of adventure and romance at her side. What he finds instead is unlike anything he ever expected. Recruited into a secret organization of assassins, Mikael finds himself learning the trade of deception, the nature of death, and the odd course of his destiny. Various powerful beings need to die, and the only force capable of making it happen belongs to the infamous assassin Thomas the Poisoner.
