1955. The United States and Russia are involved in a bitter nuclear arms race. Much of Europe is still reeling from the aftermath of World War II. Eastern Europe is under the yoke of the Soviet Union. While the world is occupied with its own problems, young and fresh-faced soldier Dmitry Polyakov comes to terms with a bombshell of his own: He's gay.
