Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Third Report
In submitting the third class report, I wish to thank you. I am grateful not only for the promptness with which you have so generally answered my request for information but also for the earnestness with which so many of you have followed my suggestion to write a connected account of your life since the last report. In both these ways you have added to the interest of the report. It comes to you with the information more nearly of the present; it is less imper sonal. However, the sketch under each man's name is not to be understood as a direct quotation. In some instances, indeed, the information given in the last report has been combined with the sketch written for this report in order to make a more complete account. If you will advise me of errors and omissions, I shall be glad to make corrections in the next report. I should like the addresses of missing men, particularly the holders of the ab. Or s.e. Degree.
