Publisher's Synopsis

The lion and the gibbon is a fascinating story about two great friends, a lion and a gibbon, who lived happily in the beautiful mountains of Ethiopia until, one day, the evil act of a hyena turns everything upside down. The two friends become enemies and danger hovers over the gibbon's life. And the lion struggles to restore his pride and his peace. At every turn in the story, they both become sadder and more desperate. Then a young Abyssinian fox that witnessed the growing tragedy goes to seek the help of the baboon with the bleeding heart who lived higher up in the towering northern mountains. The baboon hopes to avert a disaster but he has to act fast and travel very far if he is to succeed. The story highlights the value of friendship and the power (over sheer muscle) of foresight, quick thinking and courage. The illustrations are beautiful and colourful and feature some of Ethiopia's iconic endemic species and beautiful landscapes. The target audience is children between the ages of 3 and 8 years, but the book can be enjoyed by children of all ages.
