Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Wonders of the Ocean: Containing an Account of the Color, Saltness, and Probable Depth of the Ocean; Of Its Mountains of Ice, Gulfs, Whirlpools, Currents, and Tides; And of Its Coral and Other Formations and Productions, So Far as Known, Whether Animal, Mineral, or Vegetable

Tm: inspired penman said the way of God was in the sea, and that his footsteps were unknown. The leading sentiment of this declaration is, that the ocean is one of the vast theatres in which He displays his wisdom and power; and yet, that He can no more be traced therein, than can be seen the footsteps of a man who might walk upon the surface of the water. This is true of the Divine operations generally in the material universe; but in the deep ocean, which lies concealed from human vision, it is peculiarly true.
