However, the birth of the queen's daughter, Wonderland's future Queen of Hearts, creates a fissure in the stranglehold Blackheart has over the kingdom. Threatened by the newborn's existence, with bright red hair and birthmarks, Blackheart orders the queen's servants to dispose of the baby girl. Underlying opposition to Blackheart's injustices boils to the surface leading one servant, Marie, to flee the palace with the newborn. Marie's disappearance and sudden physical changes in the queen leave Blackheart questioning everything.
