Until the morning of his thirtieth birthday when two FBI agents barge into his office at the Marine Corp Recruit Depot at Parris Island to tell him his twin brother, Seth, had not only committed a horrific act of violence but had then jumped to his death from the top of a twenty-story building. Still reeling in shock, he reaches out to Karma Taylor, a woman Seth mentions in a cryptic video he'd sent Sam as a birthday/suicide letter, to retrieve his brother's journals. After learning that Karma has been burning up the internet and the science fiction circuit with allegations that she had been abducted by aliens, and is blasting "the truth behind the lies" the world's governments have been spouting, he wants nothing more to do with her other than collecting Seth's journals. In his mind, the woman needs a padded room. But when bodies start piling up, and Sam is wounded and on the run for his life, he realizes there's more to his brother's, and Karma's, claims than sick minds in desperate need of medication. Especially when devastating secrets are brought to light that will change not only Karma and Sam's lives, but also that of an unsuspecting world wrapped up in their own arrogance that we are alone in the universe. It may already be too late to stop what had begun over a half-century before any of them were born.
