Neil UiBreaslain tells his father's story as a first person autobiography. Robert Brislawn was born Robard Seangan Ó'Breasláin, grew up in Sprague, Washington. When he is told he has advanced tuberculosis, the recommended cure is to sign on as recorder for a topographic survey team in Avory, Idaho. ("You'll either come back dead, or on your way to recovery.") He not only recovers, but falls in love with the outdoor life, the forest, the mountains and the horses. After fighting in World War I, and coming back to ranch in Wyoming, he started the Spanish Mustang Registry to help save the sturdy ponies he had. ridden and loved.
