Having built lives as successful visual artists and gallery owners in a thriving downtown art district, they can no longer ignore their pasts once this long-forgotten shadow, not only enters Lindy's dreams but also manifests in human form before both women, during an art opening in Phoenix Gallery. Lindy, having found love with Detective Griffin Temple, Swan's brother, is haunted, night after night, by repetitive dreams of a mysterious warrior princess who appears to grow into womanhood while, in these same dreams, the fantastic dreamscape, surrounding her, continues to deteriorate. Awakening from one such dream, Lindy encounters that same dream-figure inside her home. As she reaches to touch the out-stretched hand of this long-lost friend, she is drawn back into Amethyst Cavern where Princess Twilight has waited for her to, not only remember, but also bring with her the magic to restore the crystal labyrinth. Time blurs: still Lindy realizes the longer she remains in this in-between world of make-believe and dreams; memory of her adult life, of the man she loves, is rapidly fading. Although Swan, and live-in lover, Detective Chase Logan, hold the secret to why seven others have also vanished from the same art district; Lindy's disappearance makes no sense. Swan, eager to discover if buried memories of her own unhappy childhood, and secret life as a white witch, may hold clues to her friend's unexplained departure, also questions what part, if any, her "Exhibit Only" paintings may have played in Lindy's mysterious disappearance. Detective Temple, now considered the main suspect in this latest Missing Person case refuses to accept the possibility that Lindy may have met with violence, or that she willingly walked out of his life. Forced to take a leave of absence, he is unwilling to step aside as an official search for the woman, he loves, begins in earnest. Unaware of the secrets Swan and Chase share, Griffin turns to the only two people he can trust...enlisting their help to find Lindy...to bring her home.
