The Vespers of Palermo is a tragic play in five acts written by Felicia Dorothea Browne Hemans and published in 1823. However, the victory is short-lived as the French launch a counter-attack, resulting in a tragic conclusion in the fifth act.Throughout the play, Hemans explores themes of patriotism, loyalty, and sacrifice, as well as the complexities of political and personal relationships.
