Publisher's Synopsis
If you didn't believe in vampires and put your faith in science, what would it take to shake that faith?
If your father had been a prominent scientist and an expert in sicknesses of the blood, but his more esoteric research had been kept secret from you, would it bother you?
For young Dr Jacob Edwards, vampires were nothing but creatures of folklore and legend, with nothing in history, science, or medicine to support their true existence. But as he busies himself with his laboratory rats in the logical, methodical world of biochemistry, events occur which bring these disparate realms together.
Experiments haven't always been performed scientifically and Jacob learns how such experiments down the centuries, to forestall Death, have taken on a life of their own. And his own life may be their culmination.
Creeping out of medieval darkness and into the light of modern science, the undead may be amongst us. If not already, they soon will be.
But how high a price would you be prepared to pay for immortality?
