The use of agreements to achieve planning requirements has been the source of much discussion amongst those concerned with the planning system in this country.;This publication provides information based on a survey of all such agreements entered into by a sample of English local planning authorities during a three year period. The research provides information about: how such authorities make use of their powers to enter into planning agreements with developers; the scope, contents and terms of the agreement signed - and whether these are consistent with the Department's published policy; and the impact of the agreement on interested parties.
