Publisher's Synopsis

This book captures the stories about the missions of a Civil War Sharpshooter. The memoir of the American Civil War provides us with another view of the catastrophe that changed the country forever
Though less famous than Hiram Berdan's regiment of sharpshooters, Birge's sharpshooters in the west played a significant role in the Civil War.
Their chronicler, Lorenzo Ren Barker, was born on August 16, 1839, and so was 22 years old when he enlisted on September 27, 1861. After the war, he listed his occupation as publisher. Barker died in Reed City, Michigan on November 29, 1915, and is buried in Woodland Cemetery. This book reveals the stories about his life during the Civil War!
