Publisher's Synopsis

In this fully-illustrated, humorous, magical, adventure fantasy, twins Fenix and Furie find themselves intrigued by a huge knothole at the base of an old cottonwood tree. When the girls accidentally bump into a low tree branch, the knothole swings open like the doorway it truly is. The girls are instantly transported to Edoux where they meet Mr. Rabbit, The Keeper of the Tree Portal. Mr. Rabbit explains that the wily Weasel Brothers are tunneling into the cave of a stranger calling herself Witch Elsie and that they are about to get themselves into serious trouble. After Mr. Rabbit gives each of the girls two magical gifts to help them in their quest, they agree to help the trio of silly, impetuous Weasel Brothers. The girls are delighted to find that the first gift, a pale blue feather on a black cord, is actually a flying transportation device, and the second is a silver bracelet which will instantly return them to Mr. Rabbit's house if they get in a bind. The girls use their feathers to fly to the Bengol Mountains only to find that Witch Elsie is far more dangerous than they ever could have imagined. Not only are the lovable Weasel Brothers in serious danger, but all of Edoux could be changed forever if they are unable to stop the witch from carrying out her terrible plan. The girls enlist the help of an unlikely ally, the obnoxious Thomas-the-Know-It-All cat, and together with the blundering, food-crazed Weasel Brothers, their exciting adventure unfolds. The occasionally shy twins learn to rely on their own problem-solving skills to help resolve the crisis in Edoux, and in the process, they discover that the most magical gifts of all are the gifts of friendship and love.
