Publisher's Synopsis

Ben's grandad is a steam train enthusiast and a keen gardener. He has no time for modern devices and mourns the fact that children nowadays don't know where there food is coming from as their gardens are full of decking (or next year's firewood as he calls it). But when he needs help restoring one of his steam engines, he reluctantly turns to the children for help in searching for information on the internet. Following a road accident, it becomes clear that the children need a safer way to get to school. Ben asks his grandad for help and together they come up with a wonderful plan, helped by mobile phones and the internet. So, as grandad becomes converted to the positive side of modern technology, the children start to take an interest in his garden. Suitable for children aged 7- 10 to read themselves, or slightly younger if being read to by an adult this is a modern story with modern children who each have their own mobile phone and to whom the internet is second nature.
