Publisher's Synopsis
Ray Hardin wasn’t well suited to the job, but he was the best man that Glen Wycherly had. It was nearly time for the spring gather of cattle to be hitting the trail, but Wycherly’s ranch had followed the same southern trail for years. Every rustler, ne’er-do-well and local Indian knew when and where the herd would pass, and it made for easy pickings. Wycherly’s old map suggests a route through the Pocono Mountains; a route which no one in memory had ridden. Ray and his old partner, Wally Chambers, take to the tangled hills with some reluctance. Along the way awaits a nest of outlaws, the last of the Jumano Indians, and a young woman who takes a liking to Wally. But the trail into the unknown raises more problems than cattle-rustlers ever could.
