The Tragedy of Hoffman or A Revenge for a Father is a play written by Henry Chettle in 1631, which was published in 1913. Hoffman's father was killed by a nobleman named Count Frederick, who also took possession of his lands and wealth. Hoffman disguises himself as a scholar and gains entry into Count Frederick's household to plot his revenge. He falls in love with the Count's daughter, Rosalia, and the two plan to elope. However, their plans are foiled, and Hoffman is captured and sentenced to death.
