Publisher's Synopsis
Italian immigrants Vito and Cassandra Gouch come to America in search of the American dream. The first part of their dream is realized with the birth of their daughter Abbi who is a very beautiful, humble, young girl with a deep, abiding faith in Christ. She also happens to be an extraordinary artist who is loved by all! Death claims Cassandra leaving her beloved husband and daughter devastated. Disaster strikes again as a cocaine-fueled gang of thugs led by wanna-be big shot Rube Miles, leaves Vito nearly crippled and Abbi's beautiful face horribly disfigured by a cold steel blade and flames of fire. The reason... Vito and Abbi are friendly with members of the African American community! Father and daughter are separated and they both presume the other is dead. Suddenly, a rash of dead bodies begin to turn up, leaving Sherriff James Barnes wondering what is going on in his peaceful little town. Abbi finds herself having to fend for herself as she battles loneliness, fear, anger, and depression. Father and daughter are eventually reunited, however their happiness is dulled as the once adored Abbi is shunned by others because when she experiences joy, the Glory of God shines upon her concealing her disfigurement. Only Vito, her best friend Stella, and Vito's black friend Abraham seem un-phased by her transformation. Disaster continues to strike the loving family despite their strong faith. After an article is printed in Mississippi's largest newspaper about Abbi's artistic ability makes claims that Abbi has the ability to summon Christ, a well-known hate group wants to see her dead. What will become of the once beautiful, broken, young girl who only wants to be loved? Although she has a very unique and special relationship with Jesus Christ, will Abbi be delivered from evil, or will the adversary have his way with her? Her pain eventually takes her to the edge of the abyss! The question is will she plunge herself into its depths, or will she soar like an eagle and find the love that eludes her.
