London, late 19th century. During one of his contemplative walks through the city streets, Dyson, a young bourgeois and aspiring writer, witnesses a desperate persecution. As a chaser and chaser they move away the second lets a shiny object fall to the ground, which Dyson collects. Surprised by the scene and intrigued by the provenance of what appears to be an ancient coin, Dyson visits his friend Charles Philips, who reveals that the piece is a golden Tiberius, a Roman coin of great historical value. From that moment on and after a few days, Dyson and Philips will meet five strange characters who tell terrifying and murky stories of their lives that, as puzzles, will form an absorbing plot wrapped in a shocking halo of mystery.
